Welcome from Program Chair
On behalf of the organizing committee, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2020 IEEE / ITU International Conference on Artificial Intelligence for Good (AI4G), held virtually from 21 – 23 September 2020.
This year, the conference brings together international researchers, academics and practitioners to exchange views, share ideas and explore future research themes in order to meet current challenges and promote positive social change in relation to the use of AI for Good. The conference provides the opportunity to present and discuss the findings of current research relating to intelligent computing technologies – and how they can be employed to deliver positive, ethical and scalable outcomes for society at large.
I wish to thank all authors, reviewers, and session chairs for their continued efforts in making this virtual conference a success.

It is my great pleasure to highlight ITU’s support for this conference and express our appreciation to all contributors to its success. I would like to thank all of our authors, reviewers and session chairs for building such an engaging conference as well as ITU’s longstanding partner IEEE for our continued work together to expand our highly productive relationship.
Breakthrough after breakthrough, confidence in AI continues to grow. But alongside recent breakthroughs, this confidence is also inspired by the new partnerships we see forming to achieve ‘AI for Good’. AI is bringing us closer together. Government, industry, academia and civil society are working together to ensure that AI fulfills its potential to improve quality of life worldwide.
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals provide the guiding light to this innovation.
AI and machine learning are finding very practical applications across industry sectors, applications with considerable potential to act as a force for good. Experts from different fields of expertise are coming together to align incentives for innovation and solve problems with AI. We see connections forming among AI specialists, AI users, data owners and experts in domains to benefit from AI applications – domains where AI could make key contributions to sustainable development.
The insight shared by this IEEE / ITU International Conference on AI for Good will contribute to the growing strength of these connections, highlighting yet more opportunities for new partners to achieve ‘AI for Good’ on a global scale.

President IEEE TEMS
Welcome to the IEEE / ITU AI4G conference.
This event will break many grounds for IEEE TEMS. This is the first time in TEMS’ nearly 70 year history that we are collaborating with a United Nation’s agency; the first time that we dedicated a conference to artificial intelligence technology management; the first time that our research papers really emphasized the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and this was also the first time that we solicited quality grassroots research studies by leveraging the network of our organizing committee members.
We are delighted to report that we have reviewed and accepted 50% more research papers than we had originally planned.
I wish to thank the amazing line-up of keynote speakers for taking the time to share their invaluable thoughts and insights. I would also like to acknowledge the exceptional work of our conference team:
